Noted for her charming stage presence and vocal warmth, soprano Andrea Anthony holds an Hons. BFA in Vocal Performance/Music and a Bachelor of Education, specializing in vocal music. Ms. Anthony is an active performer of opera, operetta and musical theatre. Some of her favourite roles have included: Despina in Così Fan Tutte, Miss Silverpeal in The Impresario, Ännchen in Der Freischütz, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, among others.
In keeping with her love of performing, Ms. Anthony frequently performs at gala events, charity balls and weddings. She entertains with an array of musical genres including opera, operetta, musical theatre and light jazz. She has been described as a performer whose “stage presence commands attention, as does her resonant soprano voice which holds one spellbound”.
Recent performances have included a programme of sacred songs performed overseas in Guangzhou, China; and a musical revue of Edith Piaf songs commemorating the life of Piaf, entitled ‘La Vie en Rose’ performed at Musideum in Toronto.
BIOGRAPHY
Most recently Ms. Anthony was the Music Director for 2 musicals: Alice in Wonderland and La Dolce Vita for Creativiva Inc., both of which will run for 6 months in Turks and Caicos.
In addition to performing, Ms. Anthony teaches singing lessons and piano lessons through her private music studio. Ms. Anthony is a certified voice specialist with the Royal Conservatory of Music, and is on the faculty at Musical Arts Academy. She has adjudicated for the Davenport Festival of Music and for the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association (ORMTA), and is the acting music director at St. Clement Catholic Church in Etobicoke.
